  • World of Warcraft Battle for Azeroth pre-patch now available

"The Battle for Azeroth pre-patch is here, and with this update we're making some exciting changes to the way players access to World of Warcraft", the official World of Warcraft blog reads.

Blizzard has made it so that you no longer have to buy World Of Warcraft expansions separately, except for the new Battle For Azeroth. However, if you want to partake in the new features coming in the Battle for Azeroth expansion, you'll still have to pony up an additional $49.99.

"Azeroth paid a bad price to end the apocalyptic march of the Legion's crusade-but even as the world's wounds are tended, it is the shattered trust between the Alliance and Horde that may prove hardest to mend". You no longer have to buy the Battle Chest and a subscription. In order to play the game, players always needed to pay the monthly subscription fee along with the price of each expansion or battlechest bundle, to unlock all available contents. This way, if you get interested and decide to invest more time, you can just spend all the money you were planning on spending on expansions on pets and other cool stuff in-game instead.

To reflect the changes, the Recruit-A-Friend system has also been updated.

. Previously, your RAF had to buy the game and a month of game time for you to get 30 days of free game time.

Still, you get everything up to and including 2016's Legion for ten quid a month, and sees you through to level 110. The only one that isn't included is the upcoming Battle for Azeroth, which is set to debut this August. Well, if you bought any of these items, you technically didn't buy any game, just a fancy piece of cardboard you can put on a shelf.
