  • EPA chief Scott Pruitt flees Washington eatery after woman cradling toddler confronts him says he's 'harming' children

He's literally sacrificing our air and water, the well-being of coastal communities, all kinds of unique natural resources, for short-term personal gains.

Trump wrote in a Twitter post in April, "Do you believe that the Fake News Media is pushing hard on a story that I am going to replace A.G. Jeff Sessions with EPA Chief Scott Pruitt, who is doing a great job but is TOTALLY under siege?"

According to the Washingtonian, this confrontation was led by just one woman: Kristin Mink, a sixth-grade teacher at Sidwell Friends, the highly selective Quaker school that counts Chelsea Clinton, Malia Obama, and other First Kids among its alumni. In a statement to Splinter, Mink explained: "His actions are the source of so much of my despair for my child's future and frankly the future of humanity".

Has President Donald Trump finally had enough of scandal-plagued EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt?

This most recent run-in comes at a time when many in Trump's administration are being confronted in public.

In a Tuesday report from CNN, Pruitt's former deputy chief of staff for operations, Kevin Chmielewski, alleged that staffers at the EPA regularly convened to "scrub" unflattering meetings and events from Pruitt's official calendar to avoid bad appearances. Ferguson says Pruitt thanked Mink for her comments, then left the restaurant because he had finished his meal and needed to get to a briefing.

President Trump's policies at the border have resulted in widespread protests and administration officials being accosted in public and at their homes.

A protester reportedly called White House adviser Stephen Miller a "fascist" as he dined at a restaurant in Washington last month.

Meanwhile, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders came to the defense of the White House press secretary, saying on MSNBC that he prefers critics take out their anger in a "constructive way".

"I hope the takeaway from people is that they're empowered to do this themselves", she said.

Mink weighed in on the debate, telling ABC News that Democrats should not find fault with "how civil or uncivil someone's tone is". "This whole idea of civility, I think, it's obviously a little ridiculous given the context of our president. he has been the height of uncivil".
