Sarah Clarke, reporting from South Korea's capital, Seoul, said that North Korea appeared to be unhappy following the high-level talks.
'If those requests were gangster-like, the world is a gangster, ' Pompeo said, noting that numerous U.N. Security Council resolutions have demanded that the North rid itself of nuclear weapons and end its ballistic missile program.

Before he left Pyongyang, Pompeo said USA negotiators and their North Korean counterparts discussed the idea of a full declaration of North Korean weapons of mass destruction stockpiles, and setting a timeline for giving them up.
In practical terms, Pompeo mentioned only that officials from both sides would meet on July 12 to discuss the repatriation of the remains of some USA soldiers killed during the 1950-1953 Korean War.

Diplomats, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive conversations, said the United States continues to struggle to develop a shared understanding of what denuclearization means to North Korea. And, the promised remains have yet to be delivered. Pompeo is on a trip traveling to North Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Abu Dhabi, and Brussels.
Pompeo said he had "lengthy discussions" about complete denuclearisation with North Korean officials.
"We expected that the U.S. side would come with productive measures conducive to building trust in line with the spirit of the North-U.S. summit and (we) considered providing something that would correspond to them", the spokesman said, according to the South Korean news agency, Yonhap. "But expectation and hope of ours were so naive as to be foolish", read the statement. "However, the attitude and stance the United States showed in the first high-level meeting was regrettable", he concluded.
"The North Koreans are in the game to get, not to give", said Daniel Russel, the top U.S. diplomat for East Asia until a year ago.
"There are things that I have to clarify as well", Pompeo responded.
Pompeo left the negotiations venue to make a secure phone call to update President Donald Trump on the talks, the report said.
"This is a rejection of US demands for unilateral denuclearisation by North Korea, and a clear message that the USA will need to give up more to make progress".
As he departed, he said he had made progress on "almost all of the central issues", although work remained to be done.
As retired Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey, who conducted arms-control negotiations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told NBC News on Friday: "First of all you've got to be honest with yourself".
