UK PM May threatened rebels with a national election

He urged the Prime Minister to change course in his resignation statement in Parliament.

In a clear sign that plans are accelerating to cover the negotiations collapsing, the Prime Minister said the technical notices would tell firms and individuals what to do "in the event of a no-deal scenario".

"The Chequers agreement, the white paper are the basis for our negotiation with the European Union and we have already started those negotiations", she told parliament.

Supporters of Hammond's new clause, which was backed by MPs from the main opposition Labor Party, were given hope of success when the government lost a vote on another aspect of its EU Trade Bill by just a handful of votes, 305 against 301 for the government.

A fresh Tory MP has revealed he has submitted a letter of no confidence in Theresa May after "losing trust" in her ability to deliver Brexit.

Lawmakers earlier confronted May during her weekly question-and-answer session in the House of Commons.

Meanwhile, Theresa May has warned Tory rebels seeking to wreck her blueprint to leave the European Union that they could be left with "no Brexit at all" unless they fall into line.

Andrea Jenkyns, an outspoken critic of the Brexit Chequers proposals, asked the Prime Minister at what point "it was decided that Brexit means Remain?".

Shouts rang out across the Commons.

The prospect of continued drama in parliament and doubts over the future of May's "white paper" Brexit plan - which is only a starting point for talks with the European Union - is testing the patience of businesses that depend on cross-border trade.

His resignation followed promptly after the then Brexit Secretary David Davis.

He said Britain had become mired in a fog of self-doubt and that there had been a stealthy retreat over the last 18 months from what he called the "bright certainties" of May's earlier vision of Brexit.

He argued that the problem was not that Britain had failed to make the case to Brussels for an ambitious free trade deal, but "we haven't even tried".

He also called for Theresa May to tear up her "miserable" plans for close relations with the European Union after Brexit and return to the "glorious vision" of Global Britain which she set out a year ago.

AZ's plan comes amid the ongoing turbulence as the United Kingdom careens towards Brexit.

Johnson added: "We need to take one decision now before all others, and that is to believe in this country and what it can do because the UK's admirers across the world are fully expecting us to take back control".

Johnson insisted there was still time to adjust and that the country must do so because much was at stake.

"We have got a mission in government and it is serious".

Mrs May will also try to rally her deeply divided Parliamentary party as she addresses a meeting of the 1922 Committee of backbenchers.

"These nonsenses of threatening general elections, and votes of confidence in the prime minister. bring it on, because I shall be the first in the queue to give my vote of full confidence in the prime minister", Soubry said.
