Spiders on Mars? NASA picture captures crawling objects on Mars' surface

One of the earliest attempts to find the leftovers of life on the Red Planet came in the 1970s, but a new research paper suggests that the instrument NASA used to study samples of Mars soil may have actually destroyed the very evidence that it was hoping to discover.
The spiders are known in science circles as "araneiform terrain". These mounds are produced when the carbon dioxide ice underneath the surface of Mars heats up and releases during spring.
NASA goes deeper into the process behind these leggy formations: The spiders return seasonally as carbon dioxide ice morphs from a solid into a gas. After the release of gas to the outside, dust, soil and other elements are deposited near the "crater", which erupted. The wind may also play a role in creating streaks of dust.
The image was taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO).
On the ground, the loss of the carbon dioxide gas leaves a spider-like shadows.
The HiRISE camera that the spacecraft carried onboard has captured stunning images of the Martian surface, which include the Matara Crater that feature gullies running through the sand dunes on the arid world and classic barchan dunes on Mars' Lyot Crater region that appear like blue dunes in an enhanced image NASA shared last month. Even more, Curiosity traveled only 12 miles on Mars to date, so NASA's Curiosity, which landed on the Red Planet in 2012, is moving at 2 miles per year.
The gas enters the atmosphere.
"The word 'araneiform' means 'spider-like.' There are radially organized channels on Mars that look spider-like, but we don't want to confuse anyone by talking about spiders, when we really mean channels, not bugs".
