Frontera dominico-haitiana en calma pese a huelga y protestas en Haití

  • Habrá mercado binacional en frontera pero con más vigilancia por protestas en Hait

A pesar de las protestas violentas que se han escenificado luego del anuncio del Gobierno haitiano de un fuerte incremento del precio de los combustibles, las operaciones del mercado binacional se desarrollan con normalidad la mañana de este lunes.

El pasado viernes se desató la violencia en las calles de Puerto Príncipe, capital haitiana, momentos en que el Gobierno anunciara aumento en el precio de los combustibles.

Así lo informó el Ministro de Defensa Rubén Paulino Sem, quien dijo que la actividad comercial y económica que se efectúa entre dominicanos y haitianos, continúa.

Comunicó que la vigilancia militar ha sido reforzada en la región fronteriza y que los agentes de Policía en la frontera están bajo acuartelamiento.

"La concentración policial tiene como objetivo, evitar que las violentas protestas en territorio haitiano puedan repercutir en el lado dominicano", puntualizó Bautista Almonte a través de un documento de prensa.

La Policía Nacional "se mantiene alerta en las ciudades fronterizas donde viven nacionales del vecino país, a fin de que el orden y la seguridad ciudadana no sean alterados", agregó la nota.
