Racoon's climb up 25-storey building has netizens on tenterhooks

Photos on social media showed the little dude, dubbed #MPRRacoon by Minnesota Public Radio, scaling past St. Paul office windows.

It was first spotted on a ledge Tuesday morning, just a few storeys high.

When building workers attempted to nab the raccoon from the ledge, it scurried over to UBS Plaza. At one point, a small crowd had gathered on the street to see what would happen next.

Not prepared to take a hint, it headed to the neighboring UBS tower - one of the tallest buildings in the city. That's when it started climbing.

The MPRRaccoon also became the source of anxiety for Twitter users Tuesday, as people feared for his safety and wondered how in heck he would ever get down.

Yes, because this is 2018 there was a Twitter stream dedicated to a racoon who climbed the building and people were actually watching it.

A raccoon stretches itself on the 23rd floor of a tower in Minnesota, US. "We're working with staff & building owner to find a way to help #MPRraccoon without further endangering it or staff by scaring or making it feel threatened". He's going to get to the top.

St Paul Animal Control believed it may have been there all night before it started heading skyward.

The little climber has even prompted a (presumably not raccoon-run) parody account on Twitter.
