Recent deployments of drones and ballistic missiles by the Houthi movement in Yemen in strikes against a Saudi tanker, both inside global waters and Saudi territory itself, reveal an enduring ability on the part of the Houthis to strike far beyond the limits of their own territory.

The Yemeni army backed by a Saudi-led military coalition captured three strategic sites in Yemen's southwestern Al-Bayda province on Tuesday following clashes with Shia Houthi militiamen, according to military officials.

During the examination of the aircraft, the competent teams on the ground discovered a large quantity of explosive material meant to be used against targets in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia in March 2015 launched a coalition of Arab states fighting to roll back the Huthis in Yemen and restore the country's internationally recognised government to power.

In a televised speech following the assassination, Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi called on Yemenis to rise up against the Iran-aligned Houthis.

This could disrupt plans by United Nations' special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to present to the UN Security Council a peace negotiation framework within two months.

The Saudi-led coalition battling Yemen's Huthi rebels on Monday warned it was ready to inflict a "painful" response if new attacks are carried out against Saudi Arabia. All of these new military offensives could "take peace off the table".

Yemenis living in Hodeidah and surrounding areas have also been suffered from a disruption in public service facilities since the rebels captured the governorate in 2015.

Mohammed Al Neyadi, head of ERC in Shabwa, highlighted the importance of the latest relief work in helping displaced families by providing them with their basic daily needs.
