Patti Jenkins Welcomes Kristen Wiig to WONDER WOMAN Family

  • Patty Jenkins left directs Gal Gadot in “Wonder Woman.”

As for whether Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman in the TV series, will be making a cameo in the second movie, the 46-year-old director teased, "We'll see". The "Wonder Woman" follow-up does not have an official title at this point, but the cast is finally starting to come together.

"So excited to confirm the most thrilling news!", Jenkins tweeted today (see it below).

"

"SO excited by what we have planned."

That said, Gal Gadot's casting was questioned by many people, but she ended up playing a very good Wonder Woman. Certain versions of the character in the comic books boast cat-like abilities such as enormous speed and piercing claws. Minerva herself is a dear friend of Diana's, which makes their Wonder Woman/Cheetah battles all the more hard. Wonder Woman costars Chris Pine, Saïd Taghmaoui, and Ewen Bremner are reportedly lining up to return for the sequel too, though that has yet to be officially announced. However, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the most popular version didn't emerge until 1987, as Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, under the work of writer Len Wein and artist George Perez.

The film, which is set during the Cold War in the 1980s, is set to hit theaters in 2019. That's going to be an interesting contrast with an African plant-god powered, cheetah-lookin' supervillain, but I think Patty Jenkins deserves all of our faith. The sequel is expected to arrive November 1, 2019. The full DC superhero movie release schedule can be found here.
