  • Jets expected to sign Teddy Bridgewater to 1-year deal

The Jets shifted their attention to McCown once it became apparent that Cousins is planning to sign with the Minnesota Vikings, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

After missing out on Kirk Cousins, the New York Jets addressed their gaping hole at quarterback Tuesday by bringing back Josh McCown, his agent announced via Twitter.

Whether or not this means the Jets do not draft a quarterback sixth overall is yet to be seen.

That made Bridgewater New York's new top priority in free agency as other notable quarterbacks flew off the shelf.

The Jets have now agreed to deals with two quarterbacks in the legal-tampering period as they reportedly have signed up last year's starting QB Josh McCown to a one-year, $10 million deal.

Bridgwater was once a franchise staple of the Minnesota Vikings, but a leg injury suffered prior to the 2016-17 season put not only his status as the go-to guy under center in question, but his entire National Football League career. Robby Anderson, whose future with the team could be in doubt after a number of off-field issues, was the team's surprising leading receiver past year. Along with his injury history, the Jets should look for insurance options if Bridgewater struggles or he runs into health concerns. They still hold the No. 6 pick in the draft and could very well use it on a quarterback to sit behind McCown and Bridgewater. They went 5-8 with him in the lineup, failing to win a game after his injury.
