Several HBO executives discussed the final season of the hit television series at the INTV Conference in Israel.
Orsi remained tight-lipped on what sort of budget the network would be working with, but she did confirm that $50 million per season just "wouldn't fly" for what HBO has in mind. "From a budget standpoint going into season two of Big Little Lies without any options in place we've been. um. short of raped".
Orsi added "it feels like corporate malfeasance to not continue it", restating the premium cable network's announcement in 2017 to develop multiple spinoffs for the show. The cast had participated in a table read of all six episodes before filming kicked off and it was, shall we say, eventful.
Orsi also said that after the read was finished, everyone applauded for 15 to 20 minutes. "We can't obviously start with the budget of season eight but would it be a Game of Thrones season three budget?"
"Big Little Lies" is expected to air in 2019 with Witherspoon, Kidman, Alex Skarsgård, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz, Adam Scott, James Tupper, Jeffrey Nordling and Iain Armitage. HBO first announced its partnership with four writers on four different spinoffs last May.
In addition to hinting at the budget issues with a potential "Game of Thrones" spin-off, the duo briefly discussed the Season 8 finale, which will ultimately be the end of the series.
Considering that both Game of Thrones and Big Little Lies deal with sexual assault, Orsi's choice of words come off as unnecessarily insensitive.
Casey Bloys, president of HBO Programming, confirmed that HBO has given the go-ahead for the series, which follows a group of high-school students as they attempt to cope with drugs, sex and violence in an effort to make sense of an uncertain future.
Perhaps most notably, recent footage has shown House Stark's bastion of Winterfell beset by a conflagration.

Canada, which sells about 90 per cent of the steel produced in this country to the United States, is exempt for now. He says he made similar points to Trump last week, in a phone call before the tariff decision.

He had earlier told IANS, "I don't want to say much about it, but this film has definitely impacted me so much as a human being". The trailer starts off with Varun Dhawan's surprise on knowing that his batchmate Shiuli (Banita Sandhu) had a fondness for him.
Butler later denied any off-field misconduct, saying he never missed a curfew or would do anything to hurt the Patriots' chances. Three years later, he saw exactly one snap as his team was picked apart by Nick Foles in a 41-33 Super Bowl 52 defeat.
