PAZ, which is Spanish for "peace", will carry a radar-imaging payload to collect views of Earth to "address civilian needs with multiple applications", according to the company's website.

SpaceX made an application to provide the broadband services in the U.S. and worldwide.

While orbiting Earth, PAZ will cover the entire globe in 24 hours, serving both government and commercial needs. With the trio operating in concert, operators should see an increase in capacity, with a much higher efficacy in initial data acquisition.

According to Airbus, the European plane maker, which was the primary contractor for the Spanish satellite, the satellite is to serve several different applications including security and defense. "It has created hundreds of skilled jobs over the years, and stimulated research, development and innovation activities in Spain".

In 2017, SpaceX had submitted regulatory filings to launch a total of almost 12,000 satellites to orbit by the mid-2020s. In other words, it's likely not a coincidence that the first flight test of a Starlink satellite will actually feature two satellites - one can not test laser interlinks with just one satellite.

SpaceX's Starlink initiative consists of a huge network - aka a "constellation" - of satellite spacecraft that will hang out in low-Earth orbit, with the goal of beaming internet service around the globe.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said Starlink will be 5G-like service - speeds comparable to fiber optic networks - to millions of people around the world, even those living in locations now unable to secure their own internet connections. Additional satellites, the company will be in a low orbit. The startup has already gained approval of the FCC to send its satellites for internet into orbit.

Not long after SpaceX's recent, flawless Falcon Heavy debut, the company has completed a successful static fire of a flight-proven Falcon 9 on the West coast.

Assuming the FCC moves ahead with the chairman's proposal, SpaceX would be the first US company to get the green light for delivering broadband from low orbit satellites.

Falcon has had a backlog of missions after mishaps occurred on the East Coast, requiring investigations to find and fix flaws before launches could resume.

After launching the heaviest rocket in space on February 6, Elon Mask headed SpaceX will launch Falcon 9 rocket. The rocket includes the first-stage booster. SpaceX further tweeted "Due to mission requirements, now targeting February 21st launch of PAZ". This is the company's fourth planned launch of 2018. Initially majoring in Nuclear Engineering, Curt later decided that computers would be a more interesting - and safer - career field.
