Amazon planea lanzar su propio servicio de paquetería para competir con FedEx

Amazon ha estado metiéndose al negocio de entrega desde hace algún tiempo.

No sabemos exactamente cómo funcionará este nuevo servicio, pero es probable que Amazon poco a poco deje de depender de otras empresas para realizar los envíos, por lo que la compañía tendrá su propia flotilla y empleados para repartir los paquetes, sin embargo, parte de la información filtrada menciona que incluso podríamos llegar a solicitar envíos con la paquetería de Amazon desde otros servicios, es decir, otras empresas podrían aliarse con el gigante del e-commerce para enviar sus propios paquetes, situación que no le agradará a FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.

Además y de acuerdo a Stevens, Amazon enviaría a los conductores de SWA directamente a buscar los envíos a la tiendas y depósitos de empresas, para luego hacer las entregas directamente, lo que abarata mucho los costos al no tener que almacenar temporalmente los envíos en instalaciones propias.

Según un reporte del Wall Street Journal, Amazon ofrecerá su propio servicio de entregas denominado "Shipping with Amazon", el cual sencillamente consistirá que la misma Amazon será responsable de la entrega de los pedidos de los usuarios que así lo decidan. El llamado programa "Envío con Amazon" será una solución de envío de extremo a extremo, con recolecciones de negocios y envíos realizados a los consumidores, según el informe.

La tarde de este viernes, las acciones de FedEx y UPS -dos de las firmas de envíos más importantes a nivel global- experimentaron caídas en su valor de entre el 3 y 4 por ciento. "Segundo, si Amazon comienza a ofrecer entrega a compañías, probablemente haga esto a un precio más bajo".

Tras darse a conocer las intenciones de Amazon, las acciones de UPS y FedEx caían en torno al 1,8% y 1,14%, respectivamente, durante los primeros momentos de la apertura del mercado.

La noticia de que Amazon podría lanzar su propio servicio ocurre un día después de que la empresa con sede en Seattle anunció un servicio de entrega de alimentos de la cadena Whole Foods, que Amazon compró por casi 14.000 millones de dólares.

Las acciones de CSRA Inc. subieron más de un 30%.
