  • Alas, Swype keyboard app for Android and iOS gets discontinued

If you are looking for an alternative third-party keyboard, I would highly recommend Google's Gboard as it contains a lot of the features you likely used in Swype.

Meanwhile, XDA Developers also dug up an early February post from Nuance stating that the iOS version of Swype is also going away. It was daily updated with a handful of nifty features and bug fixes. What this means is that the app moved out of the priority list of the company. This is according to a post on Reddit in which Redditor dancedar emailed Nuance regarding support for the app, in which they received a replying stating that the app has been discontinued. Upon further inspection by Xda-developers, the same message showed signs of affirmation for the iOS app.

It's a wrap for the once popular keyboard app that was even incorporated in low-end Samsung devices like the Galaxy Young (remember it?) and the Galaxy mini (when it was updated to Android 2.3, Gingerbread). We're sorry to leave the direct-to-consumer keyboard business, but this change is necessary to allow us to concentrate on developing our AI solutions for sale directly to businesses. They are planning to create more AI solutions for enterprises as it is a more lucrative method to sustain their business in the long run. The original gesture typing app has been around longer than most other keyboard apps, and it is still a primary choice for many users. The company had acquired Swype, October, 2011 and has been responsible for the modern iteration of the keyboard that flourished on Android. Some users do use it on Apple iOS operating system and it shouldn't be a problem if you want to continue using it. Share your views with us in the comments.
