  • YouTube have finally taken action against controversial vlogger Logan Paul

Since apologizing for the video, Paul has not uploaded anymore clips to his YouTube channel, which has over 15 million subscribers. The film was a sequel to Paul's hit YouTube Red thriller The Thinning and was expected to air later this year.

His channels have been removed from YouTube's Google Preferred programme, where brands sell ads on the top 5 per cent of the platform's content creators.

One week on, YouTube has officially weighed in on the matter, taking to Twitter to pen an open letter to the YouTube community which immediately acknowledges the public's frustration at the service's "lack of communication".

"You're right to be", the company said.

This week, YouTube posted a series of tweets regarding the incident. The video was later taken down by Logan Paul, who posted two videos apologising for his actions. Paul, 22, is one of YouTube's most popular personalities, with his videos drawing millions of views from a mainly youth-orientated audience.

YouTube concluded its statement by admitting it had taken a long time to respond to the issue.

After over a week of waiting, YouTube offered a vague response to Logan Paul's controversial video that included a corpse in Japan's so-called "suicide forest". As Anna Akana put it perfectly: 'That body was a person someone loved.

The event has led many to question YouTube's policies, as well as how seriously and responsibly it addresses such problems.

For Logan Paul, social media is about to taketh away. YouTube channel We The Unicorns posted a video showing his disrespectful actions.

While the Trending page works mostly on an algorithm, drawing in statistics around engagement, likes and comments and the speed at which a video builds views, it is also constantly monitored by the site's technicians.
