Light ice accumulation may occur before the snowfall and could make roads very slick. This is when temperatures will be near 32 but a change to just heavy, wet snow is then expected by mid-morning.

Crews began working overnight to treat the airport's surfaces but officials said blowing snow and low visibility is a concern as winds pick up speed, the Associated Press reported. (If you have the option to work from home Monday, consider it).

Snow will taper off from west to east Sunday night ending on the I-25 corridor and mountains by 11pm and clearing out of the plains by 6am Monday morning. The service says up to 8 inches of snow could hit central and northeastern parts of the state, as well as in northwestern Iowa on Sunday into Monday.

While forecasters are expressing confidence in their projections for heavy snow in central and northeast Nebraska, uncertainty remains regarding the forecast in the Lincoln area.

Motorists in southeast Minnesota may encounter challenging winter driving conditions in portions of the region Sunday evening and into Monday morning's commute, based on the current weather forecasts that include a Winter Storm Watch, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

As for timing, the storm will push into Minnesota Sunday night, bringing possible freezing rain and icing to southeastern Minnesota.

In the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, northwest Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, winter storm watches are in effect. Travel on roads will be hard and could also be unsafe.

Denver will dry out for the rest of the week with highs in the 30s and 40s each day.
