Trump Says US "Could Conceivably" Rejoin Paris Climate Accord

  • Trump Says US

"Norway is a great customer, and a great ally and a great friend", Trump said at the press conference, which drew most attention for the US President's hint to potentially "go back" into the Paris climate deal.

In a press briefing held with Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on January 10, President Donald Trump said that US could "conceivably" re-enter into global climate change mitigation efforts under the Paris accord.

He repeated to reporters what he said when he pulled out of the agreement last June, that it "was a bad deal for the US". The Post posits that Trump, who was reading from a statement, likely saw the number of jets delivered-52-and mistakenly added an "F" designation to it. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to say if Trump is a Call of Duty fan, and Lockheed Martin, which makes the F-35, wouldn't say if an F-52 is in the works.

"It put great penalties on us", he said about the agreement. Almost every other country in the world has signed the agreement.

Analysts have said the USA withdrawal from the Paris agreement makes it more hard for the world to reach the goals that it set for itself in the Paris agreement. Trump pledged on the campaign trail to withdraw from the accord, which former President Barack Obama and the leaders of 194 other countries signed in 2015.

During the briefing, Trump appeared to stress that his administration is "very strong" on the environment. "It took away a lot of our asset values".

When announcing the exit, Trump kept the door open to rejoining the pact "on terms that are fair to the United States, its businesses, its workers, its people, its taxpayers".

It aims to keep the increase in average global temperature at below two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. And we're not going to let that happen. "I'm not going to let it happen".

"I wish we'd do some of that", he remarked-possibly uninformed that the USA, too, harbors sizable hydropower resources, which produced 267.8 TWh, or about 7% of the nation's total generation, in 2016.

"And if we can't, that's fine", President Trump said in June 2017.
