  • CNN Poll: Economic boost buoys Trump, but negatives abound elsewhere

According to Gallup, the median approval rating of US leadership overseas has slid from 48 to 30 percent since Trump took office. It dropped 40 percentage points in Canada and 28 points among Mexicans, who have been a frequent target of Trump's insults and on whose border Trump is trying to erect a wall.

But the White House continues to point to another set of data- the record-breaking numbers on the stock market since Donald Trump's election.

Supreme Court Justice John Roberts (2L) administers the oath of office to U.S. President Donald Trump (L) as his wife Melania Trump holds the Bible on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol on January 20, 2017 in Washington, DC.

"I've found no reason whatsoever to think the president has any issues whatsoever with his thought processes", Jackson told reports, saying that he had no concerns about Trump's "cognitive ability" or "neurological function". Twenty-eight percent say the economy is "not so good", while 12 percent describe it as "poor".

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll asked which one or two accomplishments made them feel the most positive about Trump. Just 36 percent of Americans approve of Trump's job performance, while 58 percent disapprove, essentially unchanged since midsummer.

When asked to assess the likelihood Trump will keep specific major promises, expectations appear to have faded on several of them. A majority of Republicans, 89 per cent, said Trump was stable.

Polling data reveal the USA has seen its biggest losses in Portugal, Belgium, Norway and Canada, each experiencing a drop in approval rating of at least 40 percent.

Despite unproven allegations of collusion with Russian Federation during his presidential campaign, Trump's policies towards Moscow have changed little from that of his predecessor, as he has presided over the signing of new sanctions package on Russian Federation and the continued North Atlantic Treaty Organisation military buildup in Eastern Europe.

In Asia, approval dropped to 30%, tying the previous low that was measured during the Bush administration. Just over a quarter, 26 percent, say they believe there is solid evidence to buttress this latter assessment.

But 50% believed the Obama administration deserves a bulk of the credit, compared to the 38% who believe Trump should get the lion's share.

Forty percent of people surveyed said they approved of Trump's handling of his job, while 55 percent said they disapproved. Twenty percent said the economy and low unemployment, 13 percent said "putting America first", 10 percent said the Republican tax law, and 10 percent said military gains against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Whether the US will be able to regain the world's trust, as it largely did under President Obama, remains to be seen.

The First Lady had a 48% favorability rating among 1,500 voters polled earlier this month, five points higher than the 43% they gave her husband, or the 41% her stepdaughter received.

The White House ended the program a year ago, kicking it to Congress to find a legislative solution. About 2 in 3 say the president's use of Twitter has hurt his presidency.

The president addressed his mental health on social media after the bombshell Michael Wolff book Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House contained claims that the president had trouble remembering friends.
